Women in Public Administration conference

A conference on "Women in Public Administration" was held today at the House of Europe. The event was organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria and the "More Women in Politics" NGO with the aim to initiate a public discussion on the topic of women in public administration and the opportunities for development, including the promotion of women's participation in politics, diplomacy, security and other areas that are key to state-building. The mathematician Prof. Yuri Tschinkel with a diploma of a foreign member of BAS

The diploma for foreign member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was presented by the President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, to Prof. Yuri Tschinkel. The ceremony was held today in “Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of the Academy. The Assembly of Academicians had elected Prof. Yuri Tschinkel from the USA as a foreign member of BAS in November 2024. On the occasion of the awarding of the diploma and in the framework of the academic seminar "Current Problems of Science", Prof. Yuri Tschinkel delivered a lecture on "Geometry of Numbers". BAS economists: Energy efficiency measures should take into account territorial differences and household vulnerability

Taking into account territorial differences in social and energy vulnerability of households is a strong tool to overcome poverty and inequalities and to achieve a wider coverage of measures with the same financial means. For example, improving the energy efficiency of individual houses is more cost-effective than implementing these measures for multi-family buildings. The reason for this is that funding can only be provided with income criteria for the most vulnerable households with 3 or more members. With an investment of BGN 100 million and a limit of funding per household of up to BGN 20 thousand, 5.7 per cent of houses with three or more residents where 23 598 energy poor people live will be renovated while apartment buildings will account for only 0.92 [...]

35 years Institute of Polymers

Bulgarian online encyclopaedia being developed by BAS researchers

The project "Bulgarian Online Encyclopaedia . Connected and accessible encyclopaedic  knowledge" has been presented at the first information day on the project activities at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences by the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies and the "Bulgarian Encyclopaedia " Scientific Information Centre of BAS. The aim of the project is to develop a specialized online platform including multifunctional databases. Through the platform, the rich resource of scientific encyclopaedic  articles, archival materials (documents and photos) will be digitized, structured and made available for public use. Scientists discuss the possibilities of tissue engineering and skin modeling at BAS

Recent advances in the refinement of human skin model systems and their possible applications in various fields of biomedicine: this is the hot topic that brought together more than 100 scientists from 28 countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Finland and Türkiye.
