Public meeting-discussion on “Bridging Cultures: the Albanian View on Cultural Diplomacy”

On March 11, 2025, a public meeting-discussion on "Bridging Cultures: The Albanian View on Cultural Diplomacy" was held at the “Ivan Geshov” Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It is part of a series of events on cultural diplomacy in Bulgaria and the Balkans organized by the Institute of Balkan Studies with Center for Thracology at BAS (IBSCT-BAS) in partnership with the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria (SIC). The initiative is implemented within the framework of the "Cultural Diplomacy in the Balkans in the 20th and 21st Century: Achievements, Problems, Challenges and the Way Forward" project funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund of MES. BAS pays tribute to the innocent victims of the Holocaust

The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Shtelian D. Shterionov participated in a ceremony to pay tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the Holocaust and commemorate 82 years since the salvation of the Bulgarian Jews. The event was held on March 10 in front of the "The Wall of the Bulgarian Righteous" memorial in the courtyard of 134 "Dimcho Debelyanov" High School - ORT School. Archimandrite John offered a memorial prayer for the victims. The event was also attended by Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence Hristo Gadzhev, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Tania Mihajlova, ambassadors, representatives of the rabbinate, Orthodox clergy and citizens. Women in Public Administration conference

A conference on "Women in Public Administration" was held today at the House of Europe. The event was organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria and the "More Women in Politics" NGO with the aim to initiate a public discussion on the topic of women in public administration and the opportunities for development, including the promotion of women's participation in politics, diplomacy, security and other areas that are key to state-building. The mathematician Prof. Yuri Tschinkel with a diploma of a foreign member of BAS

The diploma for foreign member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was presented by the President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, to Prof. Yuri Tschinkel. The ceremony was held today in “Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of the Academy. The Assembly of Academicians had elected Prof. Yuri Tschinkel from the USA as a foreign member of BAS in November 2024. On the occasion of the awarding of the diploma and in the framework of the academic seminar "Current Problems of Science", Prof. Yuri Tschinkel delivered a lecture on "Geometry of Numbers". Yuri Tschinkel is a professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York, USA. BAS economists: Energy efficiency measures should take into account territorial differences and household vulnerability

Taking into account territorial differences in social and energy vulnerability of households is a strong tool to overcome poverty and inequalities and to achieve a wider coverage of measures with the same financial means. For example, improving the energy efficiency of individual houses is more cost-effective than implementing these measures for multi-family buildings. The reason for this is that funding can only be provided with income criteria for the most vulnerable households with 3 or more members. With an investment of BGN 100 million and a limit of funding per household of up to BGN 20 thousand, 5.7 per cent of houses with three or more residents where 23 598 energy poor people live will be renovated while apartment buildings will account for only 0.92 [...]

35 years Institute of Polymers
